Since the introduction of the national health system GESY, care in Cyprus has improved greatly. This is how you are covered as an emigrant.
Cyprus has introduced a general health system with GESY (General Healthcare System) that covers a large part of the population. Contributors gain access to GPs, specialists, hospitals, medicines and further services. It is financed through income-based contributions from employees, employers, the self-employed and other income types.
For many emigrants GESY is the basic cover. Those with higher demands for comfort, choice of services or short waiting times often supplement GESY with a private supplementary or full insurance.
A contribution-based national system with broad care – the basis for most residents.
Adds comfort, choice of doctor and shorter waiting times to GESY.
Pensioners and posted workers may be covered via EU forms (e.g. S1) depending on the situation.
For basic care GESY covers a lot. Whether a private supplement makes sense depends on your demands and health situation.
Certain groups – such as statutory pensioners – can be covered via the EU S1 form. We check individually whether this applies to you.
Free, no obligation and honest. In about 20 minutes we clarify whether and how the step makes sense for you.
