With around 320 to 340 sunny days a year, Cyprus is one of the sunniest regions in Europe. What awaits you across the four seasons.
Cyprus has a typically Mediterranean climate: hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. From May to October it hardly rains and the sun shines almost every day. In high summer (July/August) coastal temperatures regularly climb above 32 °C, and inland around Nicosia considerably higher.
The winter is mild: on the coast daytime values are mostly between 15 and 19 °C. Snow falls practically only in the Troodos Mountains, where there are even small ski areas in winter – while on the coast you can sometimes still walk around in a T-shirt.
| Spring (Mar–May) | 18–26 °C, blooming landscape |
| Summer (Jun–Sep) | 28–35 °C, dry, swimming season |
| Autumn (Oct–Nov) | 20–28 °C, warm sea |
| Winter (Dec–Feb) | 12–19 °C, some rain, snow in the Troodos |
| Sunny days | approx. 320–340 per year |
| Water temperature | up to ~27 °C in late summer |
Spring (April/May) and autumn (September/October) are ideal: pleasantly warm, the sea is swimmable and it is less crowded than in high summer.
July and August can get very hot, especially inland. On the coast the sea breeze softens it, and air conditioning is standard. Many find the dry heat more pleasant than humid summers.
